Speaking at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ’s) 2024 annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday, July 31st, former US president and Republican candidate for the 2024 US General Elections, Donald Trump says he is “the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln”.

The event, which started 30 minutes late, kicked off with a heated exchange between Trump and one of the moderators, ABC News Senior Congressional Correspondent Rachel Scott, who went straight to addressing the “elephant in the room” and asked Trump about his use of inappropriate language towards black people and why they should trust him.

“First of all I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner, a first question. You don’t even say ‘hello, how are you.’ Are you with ABC because I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network,” Trump said, and emphasized on his consistent support to all, including the lives of Black citizens.

“ I love the Black population of this country, I have done so much for the Black population of this country, including employment, including opportunity zones for this ..senated state Carolina, which is one of the greatest programs for Black workers and Black entrepreneurs “.

“I’ve done so much and when u say this, Historical black colleges and universities were out of money, they were stone cold broke and I saved them and I gave them long term financing and nobody else was doing it”.

“I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln”, he said.
