Tiffany Haddish, an actress-comedian, opened up about her own experience with homelessness while assisting victims of the California wildfires.
The 45-year-old helped contribute roughly $100,000 toward supplies for families affected by California’s wildfires in January. The proceeds went to victims of the Eaton Fire, which impacted Black and brown families in the Altadena and Pasadena communities of Los Angeles.
Video from the giveaway that happened on August 8 at Altadena’s Super King Market was re-shared by Hollywood Unlocked.

Haddish attended the event as hundreds crowded into the store to get what they needed. As she recalled her own experience attempting to purchase food, she began to tear.
“I remember being homeless, I remember not having food,” she tearfully said in the video. “I know how hard it is when I come to buy groceries, and it’s like I only buy like 10 items, and it’s almost 100 bucks. I’m just thinking to myself, how are people surviving?”
The actress and comedian provided up to $150 in groceries for each person displaced by the fire. According to Black Enterprise, she estimated that the total was close to $100,000. Haddish, however, requested assistance from her famous friends to afford the total. She tagged celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Nia Long, and D.L. Hughley, while also making fun of Kevin Hart, her colleague.
“I called every rich friend to help me,” she told KTLA.
While Haddish rose to fame and success in Hollywood, she hasn’t forgotten her past.
“I know how hard it is to feed a family, the stress of it, and the cost for food today is ridiculous,” she added. “It makes me so mad. I’m a human being, and I need to eat too, and I like to buy my own food, and I’ll pay for everybody in line behind me.”
Despite the ongoing effects of the fires, she was able to feed some families and spread love through her grocery giveaway.
“Just wanted to bring some joy, heal some bellies. You know, I was like, fill up some refrigerators. I’m so excited and so happy and so honored that God gave me the ability to bring together people, to feed them, to make life easier for them.”

Meanwhile, the “Night School” actor recently addressed reports that she is expecting a child with longtime friend Jason Lee, 48. According to E News, the rumors started earlier this month when the comedian and Lee uploaded a photo of themselves holding a baby on Instagram.
“For some reason, people saw this and thought I had a baby?” Tiffany explained while hosting the August 19 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “There were articles about this everywhere. Even my own relatives were asking if I had a secret baby, which is kind of insulting because they’re all living in my house and blocking me from getting any d**k.”
After joking about social media’s reaction to the viral shot, the Girls Trip actress explained she hasn’t yet expanded her family.
“Just to be clear, I did not have a baby,” she revealed. “But I’m open to it.”
