American actor and film producer Leonardo DiCaprio has explained why he will be voting for Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. election.

He announced his endorsement of the Democratic presidential candidate in a video shared on Instagram.

According to him, his decision to vote for Harris on November 5 is driven by concerns over the climate crisis and his belief that Harris is equipped to address these challenges with her comprehensive policies.

The 49-year-old actor praised Harris for her significant role in U.S. climate action, describing her contributions as the most impactful in the nation’s history.

He captioned the video: “The devastation our country recently experienced from Hurricanes Helene and Milton highlights the ongoing threat of unnatural disasters caused by climate change. We need leaders capable of enacting policies to help save the planet, which is why I’m casting my vote for @KamalaHarris on November 5.

“She has helped lead the most significant climate action in U.S. history, and under her leadership, we can achieve ambitious climate goals that will propel our country forward. Check your voter registration at IWillVote.com and join me in voting for Kamala in this election.”

The Oscar winner didn’t hold back on Donald Trump in his video, questioning why the Republican candidate continues to deny the facts despite the destruction caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

He emphasized the need to save the planet after highlighting Harris’ policies and plans to address these challenges.

Besides DiCaprio, other stars who have announced their support for Harris include George Clooney, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Kerry Washington, Sarah Jessica Parker, Eminem, John Legend, Barack and Michelle Obama, and more. On Friday, Beyoncé joined Harris’ Houston rally.

More prominent figures may follow suit in the weeks leading up to the 2024 U.S. election.
