Kanye West has acquired a new $4.5 million mansion across the street from ex-wife Kim Kardashian. The 44-year-old rapper closed on the 3651 square-foot, 5-bedroom home in LA’s exclusive Hidden Hills, Daily Mail reports.
Kanye, who shares four children with Kim, purchased the property just two months after he listed his $3.7 million, 4,200 square-foot, former bachelor pad in the gated community.
It also comes two weeks after Kim filed to be declared legally single, stating in court documents that “no counselling or reconciliation effort” can fix the couple’s marriage, Daily Mail reports.
“Irreconcilable differences have existed and continue to exist between [Kanye] and me, which have caused our marriage to irretrievably break down,” Kim added in court documents.
“I have been attempting to settle our dissolution with [Kanye] since I filed for divorce in February 2021. I have requested several times that [Kanye] agree to bifurcate and terminate our marital status. [He] has not responded to my request.’
“[Kanye] and I both deserve the opportunity to build new lives. Therefore, I am asking that my request to bifurcate and terminate our marital status be granted.”
Kanye closed on the new property after literally begging Kim to “run back” to him in an improvised line during a performance of Runaway.
The Independent reports that the couple lived in Kim’s house which Kanye designed over several years and when they split, Kanye gave his interest in the house to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.
The New York Post reports that Kanye expressed interest in the mansion he just acquired because he wants to be close to his children after the divorce. “It’s just simple logistics so that he is close to his children and has access to them at the drop of a hat,” the Post quoted a source close to Kanye.
The Post further reports that the house may need an upgrade as it is not comparable to what the Kardashian-West clan are used to. The house sits on a 1.07 acre of land and besides the house itself measuring 3,651 square feet with five bedrooms, it also contains 3.5 bathrooms.
It has a large outdoor swimming pool and a horse corral, alongside a stable for three horses. Click here for photos of the house.
