Top 7 Countries with Highest African Immigrant Populations

For various reasons, a significant number of Africans live and work outside the continent. Dispersed abroad in every single country of world, together they constitute the African diaspora that, in 2012 alone, sent home an estimated $60 billion in remittances.

In their travels, many African immigrants have explored the old ties that exist between their country of birth and its former colonial rulers. And so it naturally follows that the bulk of the African immigrant population are found in the nations of western Europe that colonized much of Africa. America follows closely, as the second most-preferred destination for African immigrants. Asia and the Middle East also come in as third and fourth place, respectively.
