Oprah Winfrey has denied rumors that her home had been raided because she was engaged in sex trafficking. She also debunked claims that she has been arrested.
The presenter’s name had been trending on Twitter since the false story started on Tuesday night.
The rumors, according to Mailonline, are linked to the QAnon, a conspiracy theory claiming there is a “deep state” working against Donald Trump.
The bogus report stated that the raid happened in her home in Boca Raton, Florida.
Responding to the news, Winfrey wrote on Twitter: “Just got a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE.
“Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self-distancing with the rest of the world.”
“Stay safe everybody,” the media mogul added.
She wasn’t the only celebrity affected by the hoax. The report also named actor Tom Hanks and Andy Lassner.
Andy Lassner, who works for Ellen DeGeneres, commented on the rumors about Oprah.
“The staggering amount of people believing a 100% fake story about Oprah doesn’t make me feel good about the chances of society continuing,” Lassner said.
