Rappers Jay-Z and Meek Mill were part of a group of celebrity friends who surprised billionaire business mogul Robert Kraft with a rare $240,000 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible as a gift to celebrate his 80th birthday.
The video of the surprise presentation was shared by Meek Mill on Instagram on Monday. In the video, Kraft’s fellow billionaire friend Michael Rubin is seen leading the New England Patriots owner out of his home to show him his latest top-of-the-range gift.
A visibly surprised Kraft is heard saying he’s been trying to purchase that vehicle in question. “Oh my God!” Kraft says before Rubin tells him the luxury vehicle is a gift from him, Jay-Z, Meek Mill and others. “How the fudge did you get it? We couldn’t get it,” Kraft also says in the video.
It is well known Kraft has a close friendship with Rubin, Jay-Z and Meek Mill. In 2019, the 80-year-old joined forces with the two rappers and Rubin to launch the criminal justice organization, REFORM Alliance. Kraft also visited Meek Mill while he was incarcerated in 2018 and advocated for his release as well as changes in the criminal justice system. The Philadelphia rapper had been sent back to prison for violating his parole.
“It makes it clear to me that we have to do something with criminal justice reform,” Kraft said at the time, according to ESPN. “His kind of case, in a situation like this, it’s really bad. I know some of our players in the NFL have talked about this and I see it firsthand; it’s just wrong. We have to find a way to correct it.”
Despite their relationship and Sunday’s kind gesture, some people on social media raised eyebrows over the rappers contributing to purchase the high-end vehicle for the billionaire. Take a look at some of the reactions below:
