Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has announced her readiness to take a cognitive test, challenging Donald Trump to do the same.
Her response follows a post by Trump on Truth Social earlier this month, where the former president and Republican candidate urged her to take a “test on Cognitive Stamina and Agility.” Trump claimed that Harris is “slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions.”
Harris addressed Trump’s comments in an interview last weekend, pushing back against his claims.
“This is what he has resorted to,” Harris told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell while campaigning in Kalamazoo, Michigan. “I think he’s increasingly unstable and unhinged, and has resorted to name-calling because he has no plan for the American people.” She also agreed to take a cognitive exam and challenged Trump to take the same.
The former president and his allies continued their criticism of Harris at a rally in New York on Sunday. Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson called Harris “low IQ” during remarks at Madison Square Garden, while Trump added that she “can’t put two sentences together.”

Harris’s comments about the test come shortly after a White House physician’s memo confirmed she is in “excellent health,” based on her April physical exam, noting only that she has seasonal allergies. In contrast, Trump has not shared recent medical details, though his campaign cited positive memos from Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, a former White House physician.
In her recent interview, Harris emphasized her view that Donald Trump is “unfit” for another term, referencing criticism from his former allies.
“Don’t take it from me; listen to the people who know him best,” Harris said. “His former chiefs of staff, including 4-star Marine General John Kelly, two former secretaries of defense, his national security adviser, and even his vice president—all have, in some way, warned that he is unfit and dangerous.”
Meanwhile, John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, told The New York Times last week that he believes Trump lacks an understanding of the Constitution and the rule of law, calling him unfit and comparing his behavior to fascism. Trump and his aides dismissed Kelly’s comments, calling him a disgruntled former employee.
