Authorities in Kenya have arrested a man after he allegedly set up his own police station without any official authorization. Per Citizen Digital, the man, identified as Collins Leitich, opened the police patrol base in Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County.
But the National Police Service (NPS) was initially unaware of Leitich’s actions until local authorities ultimately found the base. Leitich is said to have even used the country’s official police colors to paint the unauthorized base.
“We were surprised to learn that the police patrol base was not official. Many of us thought it was a genuine initiative to improve security in the area,” a resident said.
Authorities are yet to ascertain why Leitich set up the patrol base without any approval. An investigation into the incident has since been launched.
