In a classical case of hero to misery, Los Angeles Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick was arrested shortly after his team’s victory over the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Kendrick was apprehended for gun possession during the early hours of Monday morning, as per Los Angeles County jail records.
The defensive back was pulled over for a traffic violation, and a subsequent search of the vehicle by police revealed both a gun and marijuana. The 23-year-old was not booked into jail but was cited for felony possession of a firearm in a vehicle and released early Monday morning, according to CBS News.
The Los Angeles Rams confirmed Kendrick’s arrest on Monday, adding that they were in the process of gathering more information and emphasizing that they didn’t have all the necessary details at the time.
Kendrick, a former sixth-round draft pick from Georgia in 2022, is currently a player with the Rams. He has participated in 21 NFL games and recorded 68 tackles, two tackles for loss, and seven pass deflections in his career. Kendrick has been a regular starter this season, according to the New York Post.
In the Rams’ Sunday 26-9 victory over the Cardinals, Kendrick contributed with two tackles and was present for 89 percent of the defensive snaps. This win brought the Rams to a 3-3 record for the season, rebounding from a Week 5 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, where Kendrick had played every defensive snap.
