Poem: For the Goddess, Elesi

by Victhur Ihuka, 11:14am March 02, 2015,

African woman

Love spoke to me

Love spoke to me
She came in a form
Not as cupid,
But a goddess
The other one
Dark skinned
Smoldering eyes
Perfectly curved body
A shy smile

Love spoke to me

She spoke in whispers
In the streets
In the church
In the crowd

She spoke in a hushed tone
A calm after the fiery storm
A light at the end of the tunnel
A reassuring kiss

Love Spoke to me

I bumped in to her
The girl in my dreams
I called her mine
The one I waited for
Never desiring less

La diosa
I call her
Chi nwaany (the goddess)
