Authorities in Atlanta arrested and charged a man who allegedly threatened to blow up Tyler Perry’s movie studio.
According to TMZ, police said the suspect, identified as Coles Arrasheed, called the studio on May 13 and asked to speak with the billionaire media mogul. But after the receptionist told Arrasheed that could not happen, he became agitated and started making unintelligible comments, the police report stated.
The phone call reportedly left the receptionist in panic, so she hung up and blocked the suspect’s number. But the report stated that the receptionist later realized Arrasheed had also left a voicemail where he allegedly threatened to bomb the studio. This made her get in touch with the police.
Arrasheed was eventually arrested and charged with a felony. He was, however, later released on a $5,000 bond. In an Instagram post after his release, Arrasheed claimed Perry, 52, was trying to steal his TV series, HotNewHipHop reported.
Perry opened his $250 million film studio in Atlanta in 2019. The facility is the city’s first fully black-owned multifaceted studio. According to his website, the 330-acre land for the studio was acquired in 2015 and has 12 fully furnished sound stages for movie productions.
