Authorities in Georgia have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of the mother of rapper Young Thug’s child. According to PEOPLE, 31-year-old Lakevia Jackson was allegedly gunned down by Joshua Fleetwood, 25, outside a bowling alley on March 17.

The Atlanta Police Department said the suspect and the deceased were both at the Metro Fun Center when they got into an altercation over a bowling ball. Fleetwood was in the company of his date. And video footage reportedly showed both parties engaged in a dispute over a bowling ball.

In a recorded statement, Atlanta Police Department homicide commander Ralph Woolfolk said the dispute “carried over into the parking lot” of the bowling alley, adding that a woman from the two parties consented to “engage in a physical altercation.” But Fleetwood allegedly pulled out a gun at a certain point and shot Jackson multiple times.

“These persons went into this location with the intention of bowling,” Woolfolk said, adding that fatal incident could have been totally avoided.

“About 41% of our homicides are attributed to escalating disputes, and this is simply when people do not resolve conflict well,” he said. “We have asked the public to work together to resolve these conflicts [so they do] not have to escalate.”

Fleetwood has since been charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, authorities said.
