Man found guilty in brutal murder of two doctors in their Boston home

Bampumim Teixeira, a 33-year-old former concierge, was on Tuesday found guilty of first-degree felony murder in the fatal stabbing of engaged doctors in their Boston penthouse in 2017.

Teixeira was convicted of killing Richard Field, 49, and his 38-year-old fiancée Lina Bolanos, who were both anesthesiologists.

The Suffolk Superior court jury also found Teixeira guilty of home invasion, two charges of armed robbery and two charges of kidnapping.

Reports say there were vocal outbursts from the defendant, Teixeira, during the trial on Tuesday to the extent that he was removed from the courtroom twice.

At a point during the trial, Teixeira assaulted the wife of the prosecutor and later yelled about one of the victim’s last words.

Officials say his reactions could lead to additional charges against him.

Teixeira, who grew up in Guinea Bissau before coming to the U.S. in 2010, worked for some time as a concierge in the couple’s building. He has pleaded not guilty to the crimes while claiming that he killed Field in self-defense.

According to Teixeira, he was having an affair with Bolanos and was with her in the couple’s penthouse on the day of the unfortunate incident when Field suddenly appeared.

Teixeira told police that Field subsequently stabbed Bolanos out of anger and threatened to kill him. He then killed Field in self-defense.

Prosecutors say Bolanos and Field called 911 several times but were unable to speak with any of the dispatchers. Field, however, managed to send a text to a friend, who alerted the front desk of the building and called the police.

The police, upon arrival at the building, shot Teixeira because he “appeared to be holding a gun.”

He was then arrested in a hallway of the building.

The police also found the bodies of Field and Bolanos, each in a pool of blood. Both had been beaten and their hands had been bound, according to trial testimony.

The words “he killed my wife” and “payback” were scrawled on the walls of their home.

A medical examiner told the court that Bolanos was found with 24 stab wounds and injuries to her head and face while Field was killed by a stab wound that severed his carotid artery.

Teixeira’s sentencing is scheduled for Friday, December 13.
