Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ legal woes keep piling up, as a Maryland judge issued a warrant for the boxer’s arrest on Monday. The recent warrant for the 31-year-old comes almost a week after Miami authorities arrested him over an alleged domestic violence incident.
The warrant for Davis’ arrest in Maryland was issued by Judge Althea Handy after he violated his probation linked to his 2020 hit-and-run incident that resulted in a pregnant woman and three other people getting injured, court documents state, per TMZ Sports.
Davis was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest, three years of probation, and 200 hours of community service. He, however, subsequently spent 44 days in jail for violating the terms of his house arrest, per ESPN.
Davis’ Maryland case is being handled by his attorney, Hunter Pruette. The attorney has since petitioned the judge to rather issue a summons and recall the arrest warrant for his client.
“Mr. Davis has appeared as directed, posted bond, complied with all conditions, remained within Florida, and promptly notified supervision of his arrest,” Pruette wrote in court documents, per the Baltimore Banner.
“Detaining him in Maryland would frustrate, not facilitate, compliance by impairing his ability to defend the Florida case and creating substantial logistical barriers to court appearances.”
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Miami authorities arrested Davis on Wednesday, January 28, two weeks after a warrant was issued for his arrest over an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred in October 2025.
Per ESPN, Miami Gardens police stated that Davis faces charges including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.

Police said that a three-county surveillance operation was executed by the department and the United States Marshals fugitive task force to locate Davis. The embattled boxer was ultimately arrested in the Miami Design District without incident.
During a January 14 press conference, the Miami Gardens Police said that the October 27 incident occurred at a Miami Gardens gentlemen’s club, adding that the female victim was an employee of the establishment, NBC 6 South Florida reported.
At the time, authorities said they were not going to disclose the identity of the woman or the name of the club in an effort to keep her out of danger.
Police made a series of allegations against Davis, saying that he grabbed the back of the female victim’s head, used his one hand to pull her, while he got hold of her throat with the other, as he took her to a parking garage by force.
Police said that the woman later rushed back to her coworkers after Davis ultimately released her. The woman sustained bruises on her left arm, per NBC 6 South Florida.
Besides reporting him to the Miami Gardens police, Davis’ victim, identified as Courtney Rossel, also filed a civil lawsuit against him.
Police said that the woman and Davis previously had an intimate relationship, and she had known the boxer since 2022. But they were no longer in a relationship a month before the alleged assault.
“What the police said is exactly in line with our lawsuit. So whatever investigation they did, they determined it was enough to get a judge to sign off on an arrest warrant,” Rossel’s attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, told ESPN on January 14. “The state attorney had to make the determination before, which coincides exactly with our civil complaint.”
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Davis was billed to fight Jake Paul in November 2025. But their boxing match was canceled after he was accused of domestic violence in a civil lawsuit.
Davis’ stellar boxing career has been marred by his run-ins with the law.
