Meet Jennifer Randle, who has become MaC Venture Capital’s first-ever chief operating officer

In a historic move, MaC Venture Capital has appointed financial expert Jennifer Randle as its first chief operating officer. She will be in charge of business operations in this position, including investor relations, IT and finance, and accounting.

According to Insider, Randle joins MaC after working for The Chernin Group for over 12 years, where she eventually attained the position of executive vice president of operations and finance. The outlet noted that during her time there, she contributed to the expansion of the business from a family office to a global investment firm with more than $1 billion in assets under management.

She intends to offer her experience to MaC with the same zeal with which she began her career 20 years ago, and she is thrilled to assist the organization because of its ideals.

“I wanted to be able to take all the things I have learned over the last 20+ years and help build a firm and be a part of something so amazing and special,” she expressed.

Marlon Nichols, a co-founder and managing partner of MaC, explained to Insider that as a result of the company’s original aim of having diversity in its ranks, there has been a consistent flow of investments in underrepresented founders.

“Part of our ethos is to not be a ‘diversity fund’ but to set an example,” Nichols disclosed. “If you truly invest without bias, you will end up with a very diverse portfolio and a high-performing one because that’s what the world looks like. Our team should mirror what the world looks like. Our portfolio should mirror what the world looks like if we’re doing our jobs properly.”

MaC, a majority Black-owned venture firm, has led investments into many startups including the Black-owned Twitter rival Spill.

Randle, who makes history by joining the firm, holds a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.

The businesswoman began her career with KPMG, where she worked for over three years as an auditor of large public companies and start-ups that were about to go public. She also worked on tax compliance for law firms and venture capital firms while she was employed at KPMG’s tax division.

She went on to work for over four years at Worldview Technology Partners, where she was in charge of managing all accounting and financial reporting for the management firm, general partnerships, and limited partnerships.

Finally, before her position at The Chernin Group, she held the position of Controller at Century Park Capital Partners, where she was in charge of the accounting and financial reporting for the management company, limited partnerships, and general partnerships. Additionally, she was in charge of the organization’s administrative and operational tasks, which included information technology and human resources.
