Zimbabwe is exhibiting under the theme: “Soko Risina Musoro,” which takes its name from a poem by Zimbabwean writer Herbert Chitepo. Zimbabwe has not one, but four artists working together at the 2019 Venice Biennale Exhibition of Art. They are Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Georgina Maxim, Cosmas Shiridzinomwa, and Neville Starling.

Curated by Raphael Chikukwa, the chief curator at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, the works of the four artists under their theme reflect the Zimbabwean interpretation of the overarching theme: “May You Live in Interesting Times.”
