Julia Collins

With her love of food, Collins developed two restaurants in New York City before coming back to her roots in Silicon Valley to co-found Zume Pizza, a food company known for its robotic technology that makes pizzas. Pitching her business to investment partners at venture capital firms was initially tough as she was often almost the only black woman and the only black person at such meetings. She is now a unicorn in Silicon Valley with the company valued at $2.25 billion after a $375 million investment in 2018. Essentially, Collins is the first black woman whose tech company is valued at $1 billion or more by investors. She is working on a new startup in regenerative agriculture, and investors are already willing to get involved, according to USA Today.
