Precious Achiuwa
The 21-year-old, who was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and moved to the United States during his teenage years, was selected by the Miami Heat with the 20th overall pick. Achiuwa joins a roster that includes other players with Nigerian ancestry including Andre Iguodala, Bam Adebayo, Gabe Vincent and Chikezie ‘KZ’ Okpala.
“My hope was to end up in a great organisation, and thank God my prayers got answered and I’m part of a great organization,” Achiuwa said after he was selected, BBC reported. “I watched the NBA Finals, and thankful that they’re welcoming me to Miami. I think I can add a lot to the table, like add a lot of aggression and grittiness.”
