Meet the excellent black women taking over institutions of higher learning in Africa

Mary Chinery-Hesse

Mary Chinery-Hesse becomes the first female chancellor of the University of Ghana. She replaced former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.

She has held a number of positions in private and public sector including  serving as a member of the Ghana’s Board of the Centre for Policy Analysis, a Commissioner of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, a Commissioner of the Commission on HIV/AIDS and Governance in Africa, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation-UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
