Mamokgethi Phakeng
Professor Phakeng was in July this year named the vice chancellor of the University of Cape Town. She is a highly respected professor of mathematics with over 80 research papers. She moved to the UCT in 2016 from the University of South Africa, where she was the vice-principal of research and innovation. She served as a deputy vice-chancellor, Research and Internationalisation, before her appointment as VC.
