Mike Tyson is taking his successful marijuana business to the Caribbean to boost economy

Famed boxer Mike Tyson has revealed plans to take his cannabis empire to Antigua and Barbuda and introduce a marijuana conference on the island where scores of Brits go on holiday.

His decision comes off the heels of a productive meeting with Gaston Browne, the Prime Minister of the Caribbean nation.

The duo discussed the possibility of the ex-heavyweight fighter expanding his cannabis business in Antigua, as well as, hosting his annual conference to advance the cause of cannabis.

Tyson’s annual cannabis conference is set to rival the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos.

Speaking to the Dailymail, Tyson said he wanted Antigua and Barbuda to become a ‘powerhouse’ for the plant, adding that “It will be good for the country and will bring in much-needed funds to help your economy.”

DailyMail reports that the conference, which will begin in April 2020, will give the needed push to Antigua and Barbuda after the devastating Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Prime Minister Browne, who was excited about the prospect after his meeting with Tyson, said: “[The conference] will be like the Davos of cannabis; it will take place on an annual basis and will bring stakeholders from throughout the globe for that matter right here on Antigua to discuss various opportunities within the industry,” Browne told the media. “So we are very excited about that.”

After the launch of his company, Tyler Holistic Holdings in 2016, the company has been pioneering cannabis tourism in California and around the U.S. It sells cannabis strains, edibles, and merchandise.

Early this year, Tyson built a 420-acre ranch in California called Tyson Ranch which accommodated cannabis-friendly hotels and a golf course.

The boxer is currently cashing in on the marijuana business. The 53-year-old, at the moment, sells around $500,000 worth of cannabis each month, he said on his Hotboxin’ podcast.

The former heavyweight champion further disclosed that he smokes $40,000 worth of pot every month, around ten tons of weed.

Located in Southern California, Tyson Ranch will provide cannabis research, tourism attractions, education, and a music festival

The former fighter said weed helped him endure years of substance abuse after his boxing career.
