Acclaimed rapper Nicki Minaj’s younger sister, Ming Maraj, is establishing herself in the music business. The up-and-coming talent, who goes by Ming Li, showed off her spit skills on social media, according to HipHopDX.
Her sister’s supporters welcomed her with open arms, with some saying that she brought back memories of “Mixtape Nicki” days. On the other hand, some urged others to let her forge her own path and to stop comparing her to her sister.
Beyond her musical abilities, the eighteen-year-old Trinidadian also pursues a career in modeling. According to CitiMuzik, Ming gained exposure after it was discovered she was connected to rap artist Nicki Minaj, who introduced her to her followers in 2013 via a social media post.
Ming, Nicki’s half-sister from their father’s side, spent the majority of her childhood in New York City and has always held high regard for their father, Robert Maraj, despite his struggles with substance abuse, according to the outlet.
A cover of “Moments 4 Life” that went viral and highlighted the young star’s skill and devotion to the art of rapping helped launch her into the music business. She’s also known to write her lyrics.
Ming recently made headlines when, on a livestream, she stated that she had no desire to become engaged in the Barbz family’s ongoing feud with Megan Thee Stallion.
“Whatever beef that’s going on, I really don’t give a sh-t for it. That got nothing to do with me. Sh-t, I’m working on my life. I don’t really care about that. I don’t care about that sh-t, bro,” she expressed, according to HNHH.
Instead, she asked followers to support her new song, which she will release soon.
