Minneapolis man allegedly kills wife over lack of sex, shoots two sisters because they heard what happened

A 48-year-old man from Minneapolis has been charged for shooting two sisters who lived next door during a rampage in his Bloomington neighborhood.

Apparently, Jason Michael Meisch had allegedly killed his wife during an argument over lack of sex and believed the two sisters had heard what had transpired in his household.

According to WCCO, the suspect will also be facing three 2nd-degree murder charges for the August 30 fatal shooting.

The sisters, 12-year-old Makayla and 29-year-old Canisha have both been hospitalized. Their condition has been listed as critical and serious respectively. Makayla was reportedly shot in the head while shielding her 1-year-old niece from the gunfire.

Per a report from the Hennepin County Attorney’s office, officers received a call of a suspect firing shots in the aforementioned location on the said date with possible victims. When officers went to the said location, which was Mesich’s residence, they found his wife’s body with several gunshot wounds.

Mesich also got into a standoff with the officers in his basement and allegedly fired about 40 rounds while screaming and throwing objects. He later surrendered, but officers were informed two sisters who lived next door had also been shot by Mesich.

Narrating the incident to WCCO, the victims’ mother said they were packing their belongings into a moving truck when Mesich abruptly started shooting at them, hitting the sisters but missing the others. Their aunt also said Makayla was shot in the head while Canisha was shot in the legs and left hip several times. The family transported both of them to a nearby hospital.

During interrogation, Mesich told investigators he fatally shot his wife during an argument over their lack of sex in the garage. Mesich said he “probably” got a gun from their home and returned to the garage with it. He allegedly punched his wife in the collarbone when she tried hitting him and assumedly shot her several times after she dared him.

Asked why he shot the sisters, Mesich told investigators they were not “good neighbors” and “he hated all children.”

He has been held at the Hennepin County Jail and faces up to 80 years behind bars if found guilty.
