Mom who threw baby in trash killed by child’s father: police

A Washington DC woman who said she put her dead baby’s body in a dumpster last year was stabbed to death by the father of the child, the police said Thursday.

LaDonia Boggs, 39 was found “suffering from an apparent stab wound” following a “domestic” incident inside of a Washington DC apartment on the 1500 block of Benning Road on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a press release.

The child’s father, Carl Jones, 44, was charged with second-degree murder while armed. His two-month-old child Kyon Jones went missing last May after Boggs told officials that the baby died in bed and she disposed of his body in a dumpster. In a video obtained by WRC-TV, Boggs is heard narrating how her son died while they were both sleeping in the same bed.

She said she accidentally rolled on top of her son while under the influence of angel dust and threw out his body in a panic. “He was ‘sleep on my chest and when I woke up, he wasn’t breathing anymore, because he was just that small. He was only 2 months old. He was a premature baby,” Boggs said last year, according to the station.

“I came back in the house and got a blanket and his car seat, and wrapped it up and took it outside and just throwed it in the trash.”

In May last year, authorities were searching a Virginia landfill for the baby. His remains are yet to be found.

Boggs was charged with murder but prosecutors dropped the murder charges and instead charged her with tampering with evidence. She was awaiting trial when she was killed.
