Kingsley Burnett thought he was heading to Sydney, Australia for a vacation. But the New York resident rather ended up in Montana as he had mistakenly booked a flight to Sidney – not Sydney – after his trip to Australia was delayed around the end of January, FOX 5 NY reported.
It all started when the flight Burnett took landed in Billings, Montana, from New York on January 26. He told Storyful he initially did not suspect a mix-up as the airport was a known transit point for travelers heading to Sidney, Montana. But Burnett, who hails from Jamaica, said he later got to know he had booked the wrong flight.
“I had to find out for myself that Billings, Montana, would only take me to Sidney, Montana, where there are no kangaroos waiting to welcome Mr Burnett,” he said.
Burnett also managed to determine the plane was not heading to Sydney after he noticed its size, per New York Post. “I saw the little plane with like nine passengers and wondered, ‘how is that going to get me to Australia?’” Burnett said.
The New York resident said he had planned on going on a cruise from Sydney harbor. But the mistake meant he had to put the vacation on hold. “My story in a bottle ended with Carol Castellano at the American Airlines counter as she tried to send me to the correct place – unfortunately that turned out to be back to NYC after a night out in Billings. Thanks Carol,” Burnett said.
He will still get to vacation in Sydney as he said he has rescheduled his flight for June 13.
