Police in Ohio have released horrific footage of a woman who allegedly attacked a cat’s head before feasting on the animal in front of witnesses who were left astonished by the disgusting act.

According to a Daily Mail report, Allexis Ferrell, 27, was found with “fur on her lips and blood on her hands” when police responded to a call from neighbors in Canton on August 16. According to police, Ferrell had “smashed the cat’s head with her foot and then began to eat the cat,” leaving many horrified with the sight they witnessed.

The bodycam video, which is now heavily circulating on social media, shows officers arriving to find Ferrell squatting over the cat’s body and devouring it. An officer is heard asking for rubber gloves, noting, “She’s covered in blood.”

When officers questioned Ferrell, she did not initially respond to their inquiry . One officer then asked , “Did you eat that cat?” Ferrell shook her head but remained silent. Pressed further on why she killed the cat, she replied in a small voice, “I don’t know.” She was then placed in the squad car as officers called for the humane society to retrieve the cat’s remains.

The incident in Canton has gone viral amid a broader, unrelated controversy in Springfield, Ohio, 172 miles away. Unverified claims that Haitian migrants in Springfield have been killing and eating pets have sparked local outrage. While there is no connection between Ferrell and these claims, the bodycam footage has added to ongoing online discussions.

The Springfield controversy gained attention after former President Donald Trump made unsubstantiated remarks during a recent debate, claiming, “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs… they’re eating the cats… they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.” Trump’s comments were based on rumors that city officials have repeatedly denied.

“In response to recent rumors… we wish to clarify that there have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community,” a spokesperson for Springfield police said.

In the Canton footage, officers can be heard speaking with witnesses at the scene. “Did you see her eating it?” one officer asked, to which a bystander replied, “Yeah, it was gross.”

Ferrell, who has a criminal record including charges of cocaine possession and child endangerment, is being held in Stark County Jail on a charge of cruelty to companion animals, a fifth-degree felony. Her bond has been set at $100,000, and she is scheduled for a competency hearing on October 15. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Canton police spokesperson Dennis Garren emphasized that Ferrell is a lifelong resident of the town and not a migrant, addressing the viral misinformation circulating about the case.
