In a panel discussion at Oprah Daily’s The Life You Want series in New York City, Winfrey decried how her body image has been topical in many discourses. On the show, she expressed how she had to carry the burden of shame but was resolute not to depend on weight loss drugs.
Winfrey pointed out that she was “just sick of” the idea “as a person who has been shamed for so many years” in regards to her fluctuating weight.
“This is a world that has shamed people for being overweight forever and all of us who have lived it know that people just treat you differently — they just do,” she added.
