8-year-old Rosie McKee recently awed the internet world with her reenactment of a famous dinner table scene from the 1985 film, “The Color Purple,” catching the eye of media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
According to CNN, Winfrey, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance as Sofia in the film, commented “Brava! Bravo! Brava Brava!” on Rosie’s video when it was first posted a few months ago.
The famous former talk-show host, who is among the producers of a new Warner Bros. movie based on the Broadway musical “The Color Purple,” then shared the video and said, “When a friend sent me this video, I said, ‘Rosie and her brother did a really good job reenacting @thecolorpurple! Then they told me it was just Rosie doing all the roles – so that gets a standing O from me! I’ve got to call her mother cause now I have to meet @go_rosie_grow.”
To keep her word, Winfrey called Rosie to discuss the scene she performed in a video that she shared on Instagram.
She told the 8-year-old, “It’s the hardest scene in the movie for all the actors to do. When I did it years ago, it took us three days to do that scene. And you nailed it!”
Winfrey then extended an invitation to Rosie and her mother, Kenya White, to come to the premiere of the movie in Los Angeles and to walk the purple carpet with her. She also said she would be sending Rosie and her mom shopping to get purple outfits, so they could be “purpled up and purpled down” for the event.
In excitement, Rosie also shared the video of the invitation on her Instagram page with the caption, “Surprise SURPRISE!!!How cooool is THIS? Thank you @oprahThe Big 3 as we call ourselves are reaping what we have sowed!!! @thecolorpurple WOW just WOW!! @aablesyn @kenya.faye LOOK MAMA we made it!!! Wait I’m the MOMMA!!!!”
