Authorities in Orlando said a 23-year-old man, who robbed a CVS pharmacy, initially handed out a note to employees threatening to open fire on someone if he wasn’t given bottles of Viagra and other prescription drugs.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, the October 20 incident occurred on Friday evening at a CVS store at 4315 Curry Ford Road, Orlando. Employees at the pharmacy informed police that Thomas Mues gave them a threatening note that stated he was armed and would open fire on them if they did not heed his demands.
“THIS IS A (sic) ARMED Robbery!!!” Mues wrote in the note, police said. “Please cooperate, I don’t want to hurt you. You are not to alarm anybody or I will shoot the closest person to me! Please follow these directions or I will shoot the closest person to me!”
Mues is said to have subsequently noted down the prescription drugs to be placed in a bag by the pharmacist. The drugs the suspect wanted included oxycodone, hydrocodone, Xanax, Adderall, Viagra, and liquid codeine/promethazine.
Mues also indicated that all the drugs he demanded should be in bottles. “When finished, place note in bag and lay down or I will shoot,” Mues wrote in conclusion.
The Orlando Police Department said officers responded to the scene when Mues was making his way out of the store. Police also said he was later arrested after officers pursued him on foot, adding that he was in possession of the stolen drugs and his written note at the time, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
Following his arrest, the 23-year-old suspect informed police that he made his way to Florida from Jacksonville to “carry out the plan.” He also admitted to committing a robbery of such nature in Central Florida.
Mues faces a slew of charges including trafficking hydrocodone, trafficking in oxycodone, possession of new drugs without a prescription, trafficking in amphetamines, possession of alprazolam, and robbery with a deadly weapon and mask.
