The year 2022 has been turbulent for the movie business; it’s been a rollercoaster of box office triumphs, surprising twists, and shattering disappointments, where some eagerly anticipated movies have blown movie lovers’ minds while others have failed to leave an impression.

This year definitely seemed like a rollercoaster because a number of the unexpected sleeper hits brought in fresh faces to the business. Fittingly, the 2023 Oscars nominees are equally diverse, with all the big names, dignitaries, and blockbusters competing for the top honor, and comedy highlighting the entire event.

The 94th Academy Awards’ most notable incident occurred when Will Smith stormed the stage to defend Jada Pinkett Smith after Chris Rock made a joke about her shaved head while presenting a prize. Smith later went on to win the best actor award that evening.

The best and brightest movies that were released in 2022 will be recognized at the 2023 Oscars, although nominations have not yet been revealed. We have our sights set on some of the top Black strong contenders due to how fantastic their year went and how they delighted fans with outstanding performances on set. The official list will be unveiled in January 2023. Here are the top 10 Black contenders, in no particular order.
