Chinua Achebe
He is called the father of modern African Literature and rightly so because Chinua Achebe was a tower. His poems negotiated the tensions within his culture with respect to colonialism, Christianity and masculinity.
In works such as Beware, Soul Brother and Another Africa, Achebe mesmerises and dares his readers to see things as he does.
The fact that he never shied away from his Igbo identity in his works but still gained global recognition is worth noting.
