*Bebalem est une localité du Tchad située dans la région du Logone Occidental appartenant au département de Ngourkosso. C’est le chef-lieu de la sous-préfecture de Bebalem.

God forgives but do we forgive ourselves?
We share the same Soul, it is the African Spirit.

Hence we are comfortable with each other;
Let’s be comfortable with each other!

We won’t stop deploring our Past,
We have been tortured, questioning the above!
We won’t stop deploring our Past,

We have been tortured, questioning the above!
Humiliated – you have not shown us any love.

Our resources — Taken advantage of […] deliberately.
And our Women raped, along with their Children […]
They are us, our Brothers and Sisters sold to Slavery.

You are the reason why I am addicted to our History.
You are the reason why I think in words of Poetry.

Heart, please stop crying, lose yourself in this poem’s Liberty!
God forgives but do we? We will not forgive you;
We should not forgive ourselves for being so giving —
For being so naïve and easily forgiving.

We share the same Soul, it is the African Spirit.
You did not have that same spirit.
If you did, you would have loved us.

*Bebalem, Logone Occidental, Chad (pictured below), is my mother/maternal’s side’s village.
