In a year that Donald Trump — the darling of the Ku Klux Klan and other White supremacy movements —became the president-elect of the United States, it is perhaps pointless to ask or wonder why members of the African Diaspora are moving back to Africa.

But even in the years before Trump’s unlikely takeover of the White House, a substantial number of Africans abroad voluntarily decided to make the journey back to their motherland.

As we wrap up what has no doubt been an extraordinary year, Face2Face Africa takes a look at some of the reasons behind the “reverse wave” of migration.
