Award-winning rapper Rick Ross touched down in Ghana Thursday, making him one of the numerous A-List celebs to visit the West African nation as part of the historic Year of Return celebrations.
Set to perform at Nigerian afrobeats sensation Mr Eazi’s Detty Rave concert on Friday, the Maybach Music boss was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by a very enthusiastic crowd. This marks the Port of Miami rapper’s second visit to the country.
The Detty Rave concert, which has become an annual Christmas ritual, is set to have the likes of Jamaican musicians Kranium and Koffee, as well as other local and international acts featuring at this year’s event.
Ross was escorted from the airport by an entourage including dirt bike riders who popped wheelies as the convoy made its way to the hotel.

Launched by the government of Ghana to mark the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in America, the Year of Return has seen several celebrities visiting the country since the beginning of the year to partake in a series of insightful and entertaining activities.
Early this month, Grammy award-winning musician, Cardi B, was in the country to perform at a concert. Atlanta-based rapper, T.I., and his wife Tiny, were also coincidentally in town around that time.
Just recently also, Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o and Hisham Tawfiq, better known as Dembe in ‘The Blacklist’ TV series visited the country. Nyong’o reportedly embarked on a private tour of the slaveholding Cape Coast Castle in the country’s central region.
Tawfiq also toured a handful of spots including the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
Award-winning rapper Ludacris is also reportedly in town. A Twitter user shared a photo of meeting up with the rapper at the Cape Coast Castle on Friday.
