Domestic violence

In Nigeria, until recently, domestic violence against women was considered acceptable as far as it was a way of ‘correcting’ her.

The law was changed in 2015 when President Goodluck Jonathan signed the Violence against Persons (Prohibition) Bill in an effort to reduce or eliminate gender-based violence.
