Zendaya has joined the venerable animated film series Shrek as the daughter of the popular orge and Fiona in the upcoming Shrek 5.

She is also one of the most in-demand stars working today, with her upcoming projects such as Dune: Messiah, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the fourth Spider-Man movie, and Euphoria season three.

Last year, she starred in Challengers, the well-regarded tennis drama from Luca Guadagnino, as well as Dune: Part Two.

Zendaya’s presence in Shrek 5 surely gives it an extra vibrancy to the 25-year-old franchise with possible new audiences coming on board.

Firstly, there’s a Shrek meme; secondly, the character designs are the same as we have always known in all the 4 previous Shrek movies, except for a little twist to Puss In Boots’s cameo.

The Shrek 5 trailer teaser was short, but there’s plenty to unpack from it.

Thirdly, Shrek and Fiona’s children, who were first introduced in Shrek the Third but are now far more grown-up.

Meanwhile, if you are a real Shrek fan, you will know that the couple had a trio of ogre babies—and if Zendaya is voicing Felicia, it implies that we’ll also see casting down the line for the other two.

The return of Shrek’s fifth installment brings back the animated movie’s key trio, Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy

However, fans can stay tuned to see which other Hollywood A-lister joins the roster and what fairytale narrative awaits Shrek and his family this time.

With a Christmas 2026 release date in store, as the feature has a Dec. 23, 2026, release date from Universal and DreamWorks Animation, the answers won’t be so far, far away.

Shrek 5 is the first in the main series since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.
