Tennis star Venus Williams has voiced her frustration about being mistaken for her sister, Serena.

In a recent interview, Venus shared that while some people confuse them for the same person, others believe they are twins.

“Sometimes they even think we’re twins,” Venus said. “In case you didn’t know, we’re two separate people, born on different days.”

Following Serena’s retirement in 2022, Venus noted that many assumed she had also retired.

“As that moment gets closer, Serena ruined it for me,” Venus joked. “As soon as she retired, everyone thought I retired too.”

The 44-year-old American tennis player also opened up about her thoughts on retirement.

“I always thought I would cry when I retired because it’s all you know and you spend your whole life programming your mind to do that every single day,” she said. “But now, I realize I won’t cry because I’ve given everything to this sport. More than anything, I think I’ll feel grateful.”

A trailblazing tennis icon, Venus Williams has won seven Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals, while playing a pivotal role in advancing gender equality in sports. Her long-lasting career and fierce competitiveness have cemented her legacy in tennis history.
