Violet tree: Although considered the most poisonous tree in Zambia, the violet tree has a specific medicinal use. The roots, when crushed and powdered, are administered in cases of a snake bite mainly due to its poisonous ingredient, methyl salicylate. The violet tree is often chopped off in areas of dense population following fears of its abuse by ignorant persons.
