Singer and songwriter SZA recently joined the ranks of celebrated artists bringing in millions from their tours. She made history with her ‘SOS Tour,’ becoming only the fourth Black female artist to gross over $100 million from a single tour, according to figures cited by Touring Data. She followed Beyonce, Tina Turner, and Rihanna, the platform added.

She reportedly grossed an impressive $113,119,055 and sold 807,700 tickets. The SOS Tour was SZA’s second concert tour and her first arena tour, according to Black Business. The tour followed the success of her sophomore album, ‘SOS’, which topped the Billboard 200 chart for 10 consecutive weeks.

Prior to that, she headlined a performance at Glastonbury, sharing the stage with artists like Dua Lipa and Coldplay.

SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, has grown in the industry to become an influential voice in contemporary R&B.

In 2017, she released her debut album “Ctrl” and received praise for the 14-song project that had appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, Travis Scott, and others. SZA’s popular hits include “Love Galore” featuring Scott, “The Weekend” and “Good Days,” released in 2020.

Aside from her own project, she has also worked with other artists like Lamar on the Grammy-winning track “All the Stars” for the “Black Panther” soundtrack.

Born in St. Louis, Maplewood, the New Jersey-raised star received the Hal David Starlight Award at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards dinner this June.

The award is presented to “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry with their original songs,” according to the announcement. She became the second black woman to receive the honor, following Alicia Keys in 2005.
