Anthony Mackie is an American movie actor and an entrepreneur who rose to stardom after starring in multiple Hollywood movies. His career in acting started after graduating from Juilliard in 2001. Prior to that, he had played Tupac Shakur in the play, “Up Against the Wind” in New York while still a student at Juilliard.

He was cast in the Off-Broadway production of “Topdog/Underdog” after graduating. He also starred in the play, “Talk”, and then won an OBIE Award for his work. Mackie also appeared in movies such as “Brother to Brother”, “She Hate Me”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Half Nelson”, among others. Mackie is also best known for appearing in the Marvel films as Captain America.

In recent times, Mackie has moved into producing, working on films such as “The Banker” and “Outside the Wire.” The movie star currently works as the executive producer of the upcoming television series “Twisted Metal,” based on the digital game of the same name, according to Nola.com.

Mackie’s acting career over the years has brought him a modest net worth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he has a net worth of $8 million.

The Hollywood actor comes from a family of entrepreneurs. His father, Willie Mackie, and his uncle, James started out as sharecroppers in St. Francisville before they left for New Orleans as teens in the 1950s in search of a better life.

Following in the footsteps of his father and uncle, Mackie reportedly closed a deal Friday to acquire 20 acres of land in New Orleans East to build a film and television production studio. He reportedly closed on the purchase of the land on the Interstate 10 Service Road at Read Boulevard, near the Little Woods neighborhood, according to Nola.com.

Mackie is yet to discuss details about the deal, however, some say that the actor has plans to site his new production company, East Studios LLC, at the Read Boulevard tract and may buy more space nearby.

According to 4WWL, at the moment, there are about 10 productions in development in New Orleans, adding that the investment by Mackie could help boost the area’s film industry after the break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mackie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Martha (Gordon) and Willie Mackie, Sr., who owned a business — Mackie Roofing. Mackie attended Warren Easton Senior High School and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and graduated from the high school drama program at the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) in 1997. He later graduated from the Juilliard School’s Drama Division.
