Malawi

Malawi banned the importation, production and use of thin plastic bags, in March 2014.  An initial attempt was made in December 2012 but was suspended after a month when the Plastic Manufacturers Association of Malawi (PMAM) obtained a court order.

The government also banned imports of plastic carrier bags, alcohol sachets and plastic papers with a thickness of less than 60 microns.
