Al Shabab
The history of Al Shabab can be traced to the mid-1970s when the group fought the woeful leadership of then president, Siad Barre. Since then the group has grown to become one of the most notorious groups on the continent.
It has caused a significant amount of distress in Somalia where it has captured the Southern and Central parts of the country.
It has been responsible for high profile bombings, with the U.S. Department of State noting that since its establishment, the al-Shabaab terrorist group has remained a notorious group and poses a serious security threat in Africa.
Not only has it terrorized Somalia, but it has also spread across countries in the region.
