We Gotta Pray – Alicia Keys
This song was a response to the grand jury’s decision not to indict the officers involved in the death of Eric Garner and Micheal Brown. Three minutes long, the song was meant to give strength to the parents of the victims and encourage peaceful protests.
In the song, the superstar says; “Sirens everywhere, singing that street song. Violence everywhere, barely holding on…Violence everywhere, barely holding on, what the hell going on, do you know who you are”
It was released in 2015.
