These black artists hit stardom while walking and performing barefoot

Mrisho Mpoto

He is a Tanzanian Swahili poet, actor, director and a story-teller. He has performed widely at festivals throughout Africa, Europe and the Far East.

Apart from his career, Mpoto is also famous for his unique style of walking barefoot for over a decade.

He believes that in order for human beings to be intelligent and avoid premature deaths, feet must be in contact with the ground.

“To live longer, your feet must be in contact with the ground…there is a big relationship between the earth and your body. Your growth depends on the nature we have, the air you use, the water and the soil. So there is a great force that is under the soil,” Mpoto told a Tanzanian online Tv in 2015.
