Before he would be convicted on charges of fraud and sentenced to seven years in prison, a former publicity scribe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, arrived at one of his hearings in a wheelchair.

Metuh claimed that sudden illness meant that he could not move freely, forcing the judge to adjourn hearing. If it was meant to fetch public sympathy, many in the country did not believe Metuh.
