These twin brothers are behind the 1st and only Black-owned battery brand being sold on Amazon

Twin brothers Marcus and Markee Baskerville, who are behind VoltCell, recently made history as the owners of the first and only Black-owned battery brand being sold on Amazon. With Amazon creating a designated page for Black-owned small businesses and retailers, Black-owned companies have now been getting some shelf space.

Marcus and Markee Baskerville said being on Amazon is a great move for diversity and representation within the battery industry, adding that they were inspired by the expanding possibilities offered by the Amazon platform and decided to unveil their own venture.

“This time is a moment of immense pride and joy for the VoltCell team. Being the first black-owned battery company on Amazon is a testament to our dedication to excellence and our ability to never give up. It is an honor to represent diversity and provide customers with a diverse choice for their battery needs,” Marcus Baskerville, Co-Founder of VoltCell, said, according to BlackBusiness.

With VoltCell on Amazon, customers can now have a unique and inclusive service, as the brand said it offers a range of batteries from AA, AAA, and 9V, including a selection of used batteries that emphasize its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

“We are grateful for God’s blessings through this process to get to where we are now. This achievement would not have been possible without me and my brother’s belief in VoltCell’s mission to make a positive impact,” said Markee Baskerville.

In terms of revenue, the global battery market was valued at $111.86 billion in the year 2021, according to a report. It is projected to reach $423.90 billion by 2030. In other words, the market for batteries is projected to grow more than four-fold between 2021 and 2030.

Amid its mission to provide customers with high-quality batteries that power devices while supporting the community, VoltCell said it will also strive to make a mark in the domain of Black entrepreneurship while “setting new benchmarks for the battery industry.”
