Felicity Asantewaa has set the new Guinness World Record for the most cars washed in eight hours by a single individual.

The young Ghanaian woman washed sixty cars in eight hours, breaking the record by five cars. Asantewaa’s accomplishment was verified by the Guinness World Record (GWR) in a statement posted on their website.

The organization wrote, “The most cars washed in eight hours by an individual is 60 and was achieved by Felicity Asantewaa (Ghana) in Accra, Ghana, on 9 March 2024.”

The trailblazer started the record attempt on March 9, 2024, at the East Legon Go Go wash location in Accra, Ghana, to show her dedication to promoting gender equality and encouraging young women in the country.

She declared her mission on social media, sharing that her passion for cars encouraged her to encourage young women to take up the task of vehicle washing as well.

Asantewaa said, “I love cars and I also know a lot of car brands. So, when I thought of empowering young women and promoting Ghana, I chose what I love to do to have an impact in the young women’s world.”

She continued: “I have observed that the car washing job has been dominated by males in Ghana. However, I believe females can equally do this work perfectly.”

Her determination drew a large audience of supporters who cheered her on throughout her record attempt. Netizens also congratulated and celebrated her achievement.

Asantewaa’s feat comes after Ace Liam, a one-year-old Ghanaian, clinched the Guinness World Record for the Youngest Male Artist in May. The record, previously held by a 3-year-old, was achieved during attempts made in Accra between January 18 and January 20, 2024.
