There are times when our biggest breakthroughs are shrouded in things right in front of us. Reggie D. Smith is an entrepreneur who owns multiple business ventures. The world used to ascribe food and marinade recipes to women, but Smith is among the exceptions to make a new business venture from selling his own line of gourmet sauces.
STL Pure Heat came to be what it is when Smith realized the joy and enthusiasm with which friends and family enjoyed his popular ‘Pure wings’ with his secret sauce which he serves at his bar and grill, Pure Ultra Lounge.
Out of curiosity he wondered if people would patronise his sauces which tends to make everyone happy, he took a chance and today his bottled secret sauces are in over 30 grocery stores across the country and regarded as “one of the hottest food products in the country.”
The Illinois native grew up with his mother and grandmother and according to his site, his biggest influence are the two amazing women that raised him. He always had “delicious meals” growing up and that brewed his passion for cooking at an early age.
Smith is a passionate person and it shows in how he runs his businesses and how he carefully curated the STL Heat Pure sauces in three different flavors. The Sweet n Spicy, Sweet n Mild, and Garlic Heat and each bottle “has a unique blend of sweetness with a nice kick of your desired heat.”
All the ingredients used in the sauces are locally sourced and organic. Smith has his community at heat because not only does he buy his ingredients locally in St. Louis, Missouri, he also relies on local vendors during the manufacturing and packaging of his sauces. He sees it as his way of contributing to the community and seeing it flourish.
On August 29th, STL Pure heat organized its maiden event, dubbed “So You Think You Can Cook” in downtown St Louis and it was a success according to reports.
Contestants were made to create their own meals using the STL Pure Heat gourmet sauces. The winning dish was the Pure Heat Surf and Turf dish made by Antonio Jones.
“His grilled beef short ribs and flank steak wrapped shrimp glazed with Pure Heat sauce over a bed of rice pilaf with sauteed spinach, onions, and Pure Heat sauce infused bell peppers.” Jones took away the $1,000 cash prize for his win after strategically using the sauces to create his dishes.
