Titica

The transsexual singer and dancer is known as the face of Angola’s urban rap-techno fusion music style known as “kuduro”. Adopting her female identity following a breast enhancement operation in Brazil, the singer’s music has been making waves all over the country – in vehicles, nightclubs and even children’s parties. The 32-year-old began her career as a backing dancer and later released her first track as a vocalist in October 2011, “Chão”, which soon became a hit in Angola and the Angolan diaspora. That same year, she was named best kuduro artist and would later be named a goodwill ambassador for UNAIDS in 2013.

Titica in 2017 performed in Brazil where she released her song, “Capim Guiné” with the group BaianaSystem in Rio de Janeiro. The regular on television and radio was once named a diva after performing at the annual Divas concert, attended by the then President Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
